Jonathan and Amy have been working in Cardiff since 1994. Their work focuses primarily on helping churches in evangelistic outreach. They have three children: Emily, Bethan and Joshua. Currently the Harris family are involved in the following areas:
• Schools work. Jonathan visits about 25 primary schools in the city to take assemblies. This is part of a wider network of schools workers in Cardiff that together are reaching 20,000 children each term with a Christian message.
• Outreach in the Asian community. Cardiff Asian Christian Outreach was formed in 2000. Currently we have four full time workers involved in weekly outreach to members of the immigrant Asian community in the city. Jonathan is involved in the oversight of this ministry.
• Preaching in local churches. Most Sundays Jonathan is involved in speaking in local churches and Jonathan and Amy have regularly been involved in church based children’s outreaches such as holiday clubs.
• Open Air evangelism. At different times of the year, Jonathan is involved in taking teams into the city centre for open air outreach.
• Soccer school ministries. This was established in 2004 and involves local churches working in cooperation with OM running evangelistic soccer camps for children and youth. Click here to see the 2007 report.
• Cardiff Men’s Convention. This has become a major annual event in the city to encourage Christian men in their walk with God and witness for Christ.
• Wales to the World. This is an initiative to encourage the missionary vision of churches and individual Christians in Wales. Several Wales-wide events have been held and a directory of Christians from Wales serving in missions produced.
• Serving in the local church. Amy serves weekly in a coffee shop run by their local church in the community and has also worked in the church preschool. They also help in leading a church small group and Emily and Bethan both help as assistant leaders in youth/children’s work in the church.
