Small team in the heart of Monmouth

Small teamTalk of the Town

From school presentations to street evangelism, the OM Lifehope team in Monmouth are making Christ known! Through their literature distribution, door-to-door visits and more, every home in the town has been contacted by the local Baptist church.

Having been invited to the town by the church’s pastor three years ago, the team of three international Christians are well known to residents. Monmouth’s youth are particular familiar with Christoph (Switzerland), Rebbeka (Germany) and Iina (Finland) after seeing them share the Gospel in school assemblies. The team has also connected with young people through their Saturday evening ‘Jesus and Hot Chocolate’ outreaches which are organised in conjunction with the Baptist church. “It’s great to be recognised by kids coming out of the school shouting my name, because I went there to do evangelistic puppet shows. That’s just amazing that here I’m known for what I do and the fact that I’m Christian,” says Rebbeka excitedly.

Coming from different countries, the team do have struggles and the odd difference. However, their desire to overcome any disagreement and serve together inspires Jonathon, pastor at Monmouth Baptist Church. “The team are a great combination of different characters. Everyone has been willing to learn and to try new things,” he begins. “Although they have different interests, characteristics and abilities, they really complement each other. They are a really effective team,” he continues.

The team’s enthusiasm is already inspiring the church’s members, who are increasingly involved in the different initiatives to reach local residents with the Gospel. Pastor Jonathan is delighted that this partnership is fulfilling his long held dream of moving Monmouth’s community closer to God.
